The project was part of an ongoing series of artist residencies that I have been organizing since 2021 around the Gdynia Market Hall (Gdyńskie Hale Targowe) and its surrounding areas.
This time, the focus was on Międzytorze – a post-industrial zone directly adjacent to the Hale, suspended for years between informal use and planned large-scale development.
In July 2023, I invited artists Ines Ballesteros and Michaela Dal Brollo, who work with their own self-developed “tools for building relationships.” Their mobile pizza oven became a starting point for socially engaged activities and connecting with people inhabiting and using Międzytorze – including residents of a nearby shelter for people experiencing homelessness, as well as users of the local allotment gardens.
The resulting film documented not only the space itself, but also the relationships, processes, and social microclimate of the area—captured in the shadow of its impending transformation.
Blending performative, documentary, and curatorial practices, the project became a form of local archive rooted in sensitivity and care.
